Tanzania, Water and Sanitation Upgrading Programme for 3 Towns
The project “Provision of pre-contract assistance, site supervision and assistance during defects liability period for the upgrading programme for the towns of Kigoma, Lindi and Sumbawanga” (in short “3 towns construction supervision”) entails the construction of water supply and sanitation infrastructure as designed under the “7 towns urban upgrading programme”, executed during 2010/2011.
The scope of construction works comprise:
Kigoma
- Water intake works
- Raw water main with 1000 mm diameter
- Disinfection facilities
- Clear water pumping station
- 2 pumping mains
- 5.8 km length (500 mm diameter)
- 6.6 km length (600 mm diameter)
- 5 reservoirs of 2,000 m³
- 2 gravity mains
- 3.3 km length (450 mm)
- 1 km length (315 mm)
- Extension of water distribution network of 122 km
- Construction of one sludge digester
Lindi
- Drilling of 10 groundwater boreholes
- Groundwater collection mains 160 mm to 400 mm in diameter
- Water treatment works of 7,500 m³/d consisting of aeration, chemical dosing, direct filtration, chlorination,
- One clear water pumping station, transmission main of 500 mm diameter and 9.8 km length,
- 2 reservoirs with 2,000 m³ and 3,000 m³ capacities,
- Water distribution network extensions of 27 km
Sumbawanga
- Drilling of 15 groundwater boreholes
- Groundwater collection mains 160 mm to 400 mm in diameter
- Upgrade of water treatment works
- Several pumping mains of 250 up to 350 mm diameter with total 13 km in length
- 4 small reservoirs of 1,000 m³
- 2 booster pumping stations
- 60 km water distribution network extension
- Construction of a sludge digester
