The contract for assistance during construction and later commissioning of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Bello - City of Medellín in Colombia - was extended until April 2016. The plant has been designed by Lahmeyer GKW Consult in consortium with a local consultancy firm between 2006 and 2008, and is under construction since 2012 by a Corean-Spanish Consortium.

Lahmeyer GKW Consult and its partner assist the Project Owner Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) in the overall management during construction and in the analysis regarding implementation of complementary technologies for treatment of the biosolids generated on the plant after anaerobic stabilization and dewatering. Studies, design and preparation of tender documents are under way.

Once completed the Wastewater Treatment Plant Bello will be the most efficient one in Latin America.
