Lahmeyer GKW Consult starts an Accompanying Measures Programme in India
Since February 2014, Lahmeyer GKW Consult is supporting the National Capital Region Board (NCRPB) in its efforts to improve the public health of urban residents and the environment in the National Capital Region (NCR) with accompanying measures in an urban development programme, financed through KfW, in the Priority Sectors water, sanitation, and solid waste management.
Urban growth in India has mushroomed and population has risen dramatically. In combination with a shortage of urban utility and infrastructure including management of water, sewerage, solid waste, this leads to environmental destruction and consequently to diminished life quality of the population. As a consequence, the NCRB was set up to reduce the existing pressures on the capital’s critical infrastructure.
The project area is a metropolitan area which encompasses entire Delhi as well as urban areas in the neighbouring states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. It is a unique example of inter-state regional development planning for a region, having a total area of over 33,000 km2 with the nation’s capital as its core.
Together with its project partners, Lahmeyer GKW Consult will assist and support NCRPB to maintain smooth and efficient project flow in the sectors water supply, sewerage and sanitation, drainage, solid waste management to reduce the environmental stress and consequently improve the life of the population.
