New urban infrastructure project in India

To improve the urban infrastructure of the cities of Guwahati, capital of Assam, and Dibrugarh, the Government of Assam, with support of Asian Development Bank (ADB), has focused on improved water supply and urban drainage, as well as setting up of solid waste management through “The Assam Urban Infrastructure Investment Program” (AUIIP).
In October 2018, ADB and the Guwahati Development Department have awarded GKW Consult the design, management and supervision for the cities of Guwahati and Dibrugarh through a competitive bidding. The total consultancy fee is 3.9 MEUR and GKW share is approx. 2.4 MEUR. The project has started in November 2018, its duration will be 45 months. The scope under this service in Guwahati and Dibrugarh are
a) completion of the ongoing metered water supply facilities at Guwahati, urban drainage system in Dibrugarh and Guwahati and increase project management and implementation skills of implementing agencies
b) planning, and detailed engineering designs/review of design of subprojects
c) bidding documents
d) construction supervision and contract monitoring,
e) monitoring social and environmental safeguard Measure, gender equality and capacity building.
