New Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Kenya
GKW Consult in association with Quadrant Engineering Consultants Ltd. was contracted by the Lake Victoria South Water Services Board (LVSWSB), Kenya, with the preparation of feasibility studies and the preliminary designs for water supply, wastewater and solid waste infrastructure in the towns of Migori and Homa Bay.
Moreover, the project tasks include also the elaboration of concepts for an industrial waste management information system for the larger Lake Victoria/Kisumu region in Kenya and a concept on the establishment of a wastewater training and research center in Kisumu. The project will be financed jointly by the trilateral cooperation between the governments of Kenya, Germany and Israel.
The envisaged project is complementary to on-going water supply and wastewater projects in the LVSWSB area and aims at the reduction of pollution in Lake Victoria from urban waste discharges as contribution to an integrated water resources management.
The protection of Lake Victoria is an important activity that GKW Consult has been dealing with for many years in different countries. GKW Consult will provide valuable and comprehensive study results that will allow the project to advance to the implementation step.
