New water supply project in Burkina Faso

In April 2020 ENABEL (Belgian Development Agency) has awarded Tractebel GKW (now GKW Consult) and its JV partner ANTEA with the supervision and control assignment for the restructuring of the drinking water supply system of Fada N'Gourma in Burkina Faso. This project has been initiated within the re-establishment of bilateral cooperation between Belgium and Burkina Faso. It is implemented by ENABEL in partnership with the National Office of Water and Sanitation in Burkina Faso (ONEA). 

The overall objective of the project is the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the urban water supply and wastewater disposal sectors, and specially to improve long-term access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation in Fada N'Gourma. The infrastructure to be built will be integrated into the exploitation of a new water resource (Lake Bilanga). This will enable - through additional investment - securing the city's water supply by 2030.

The project will be implemented over a period of 24 months and completed by April 2022.
