Skoura Rubber Tube Dam in Morocco flooded

View on the Skoura Rubber Dam

Situated in Skoura, province of Boulemane, the rubber dam of the Oued Guigou has been put into operation.

The dam, commissioned by the Direction des Aménagements Hydrauliques in Rabat, is the first one of this type in the country.

It has a total length of 50 meters with a total height of approximately 6 meters. Its objective is to mobilise water resources allowing the irrigation of 400, in the majority olive farms in the Skoura area. Rubber dams represent a sustainable solution for irrigation water management especially in arid regions with groundwater scarcity.
