Two new wastewater projects in Tunisia

Wastewater Treatment Plant Hammamet

ONAS, the Tunisian National Sanitation Utility, has contracted GKW Consult for two studies concerning the waste water scheme of the tourist area of Hammamet.

The first contract concerns the preliminary design and design-built tender documents for the rehabilitation and extension of the Hammamet South wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The WWTP has been designed in the early 90ies by GKW Consult and is in operation since 1995. It serves the tourist areas of Hammamet and the city of Bouficha. The study also includes the identification of potential areas for effluent re-use in agriculture and an environmental impact assessment.

The second contract concerns the design and preparation of tender documents for the sea outfall for treated effluent of the Hammamet South WWTP. The study includes one-year sea current investigations, modelling of the sea outfall and an environmental impact assessment.

With these two new projects, GKW Consult continues to enhance its market position in North Africa, particularly in Tunisia.
