Visit of Delegation from Beijing Drainage Group to GKW Headquarters

On November 4th 2015, a delegation of 15 members from Beijing Drainage Group Limited Company visited GKW Consult headquarters. The Beijing Drainage Group with 4,000 employees manages operation and maintenance of sewerage networks (length of 6,500 km), several pumping stations and seven wastewater treatment plants with a total capacity of 3 million m³/d for the Capital City of Beijing (population: 20 mn, urban area:. 1,000 km²).

Objective of the visit was to get latest information and advanced know-how on design, procurement, operation and maintenance of sewerage systems in Germany. The delegation has been welcomed by Dr. Ralf Bufler and Dr. Boshou Pan. Steffen Weiß held a presentation on master plans for sewerage systems emphasizing on flooding protection, extreme storm water resulting from climate change, as well as rain water infiltration and usage.

The programme concluded with an interesting discussion on procurement practices.
