For four years, the team has been working on projects for private clients in a future market that continues to grow rapidly. While initially there were projects with a focus on the preparation and treatment of cooling water, the topic has increasingly expanded to include both heat recovery and the substitution of coolants in order to comply with current legal requirements.
The highly motivated team convinces its customers to their complete satisfaction with extensive engineering expertise.
It should be emphasized that HEAT GmbH from Königstein (Taunus) was able to be won as a competent partner in these two projects within the GfA Group.
“We expect to support this company as a long-term partner in these areas, both in existing data centers and in new construction projects. We will continue the very good and trusting collaboration here and also further expand the collaboration with our colleagues at HEAT.”
(Dr. Thomas Jäger, Head of Industrial Water Management).

Contract Extension for our School Infrastructure Project in Niger

Project management for construction of more than 200 school infrastructures in Tahoua region.

The “Program for the Promotion of Education (PPE)” aims at enabling Local Authorities of southern Tahoua region to provide the population with primary and secondary education infrastructure. The funding is used for school infrastructures as well as for related support measures during the entire project cycle. Investments include the construction of more than 200 primary and secondary school infrastructures, such as equipped classrooms, latrines, walls, teacher accommodation, teaching materials, emergency school material packages for schools and management committees, as well as rehabilitation measures. In total, 44 local authorities in the Tahoua region will benefit from the education development measures. Tractebel GKW (now GKW Consult) is in charge of the overall project management, including the disbursement and management of the 15 MEUR Investment Fund.
Several factors, such as delay in the project cycle caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, changes at national, regional and communal levels as a result of the presidential and legislative elections, and the effects of the rainy season on construction and rehabilitation sites have required an extension of the project duration which has now contractually been confirmed by signature of the present first addendum. The project, which has started in May 2019, is now scheduled to be completed by May 2023.

EDCM contract within the high-priority urban infrastructure program for

With a population growing rapidly, and a percentage of urban population sharply increasing, Pakistan’s cities are facing huge challenges. The urban services (water supply, wastewater collection and treatment, storm water drainage, waste disposal, urban road networks, and transportation) are increasingly unable to respond to urban population and economic growth.
Asian Development Bank, in support of the Government of Punjab, has approved a Project Readiness Financing Loan to remediate the situation and to facilitate provision of high-priority urban infrastructure investments and capacity support to seven towns in Punjab province (Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Multan and Rawalpindi), with the objective to improve access to quality urban basic services and enhanced utility facilities.
Tractebel GKW (now GKW Consult) and its local partners National Development Consultants, Osmani & Company and Jers Consultancy have been awarded a contract for consulting services for Engineering Design and Construction Management (EDCM, Phase 1). Services comprise spatial planning, feasibility study and detailed engineering design of water, sanitation and solid waste infrastructure, including the preparation of an integrated master plan for urban land use, water, sanitation, solid waste, and urban transport until 2050. Assistance in procurement support for the seven project towns complete the portfolio. The first phase has started in early 2021 and will be completed by beginning of 2023.

Improving the living conditions of the population of the Agadez region in Niger.

The “Program for the Promotion of Education and Employment (PP2E)” aims at improving the living conditions of the population of the region of Agadez in Niger in order to strengthen the social, economic and educational stability of this region. The population in the concerned region is particularly affected by the flow of migrants towards Europe and needs urgent support to cope with the impact of the increasing and decreasing migrant flows.
Since the beginning of the project in September 2017, Tractebel GKW (now GKW Consult) has been awarded three addenda. The initial contract and the first two addenda are focussing on the fight against irregular migration and the possible economic losses and frustrations among groups of the population currently benefiting from the economic spin-offs linked to irregular migration.
The present addendum (III), awarded in November 2020, responds to the latest global development, the COVID-19 pandemic. A first aid fund of 10 MEUR shall help to enable local authorities in the regions of Tahoua, Tillabéry, and Agadez to react to the overwhelming challenges of the pandemic within the sectors of health, education, and local economy and to meet the emerging needs of their population.
During all parts of the Program, Tractebel GKW (now GKW Consult) has been in charge of the overall project management, including the disbursement and management of an Investment Fund of now totalling 37 MEUR for close to 100 social infrastructure projects such as the construction of schools, health centers, markets, water supply facilities, tracks. The project is scheduled to be completed by end of 2021.
