Kenya, Technical Assistance to Coast Water Service Board, "Mwache Project", Mombasa
The project objectives aimed at reducing the water shortage in Likoni (South Mombasa). The assignment focused on short-term increase of water availability before the implementation of the Mwache (dam) project and consisted in study, design, procurement and supervision of works, including hydrogeological investigations of the Tiwi aquifer, to establish the optimum capacity of the well field and optimum well field operations, detailed inspection rehabilitation of existing boreholes, drilling of new boreholes and study and design of desalination units for treatment of brackish ground water (10,000 m³/d).
