Tunisia, 6 Desalination Plants, Technical Assistance (PNAQ)
The project is part of the National Program for the Improvement of the Water Quality in Southern Tunisia (“PNAQ, Programme National pour l’Amélioration de la Qualité”), which aims at reducing the salinity of the drinking water distributed by the National Water Service, SONEDE, to a maximum of 1.5 g/l.
It includes the design and construction of 6 desalination plants as turn-key contracts and of necessary infrastructure works such as deep wells, pumping stations, transmission pipes pre-treatment works and finally water distribution systems. Part of the energy needed for the desalination plants will be produced by renewable energy, the construction of a wind turbine is also part of the project. The reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plants are located in the governorates of Gafsa, Kébili, Medenine, Gabes and Tozeur.
