India, Kerala Water Supply Project
The project comprised the implementation of 5 independent water supply schemes Thiruvanthapuram, Meenad, Cherthala, Kozhikode and Pattuvam, and the institutional strengthening and training of staff of the Kerala Water Authority.
The objectives of this extensive project are to provide new water supply systems and to rehabilitate existing water supply systems in two urban regions, Kozhikode and Thiruvanthapuram, and to construct completely new supply water supply systems for three rural regions, namely Pattuvam (Kannur District), Cherthala (Alappuzha District) and Meenad (Kollam District). The ultimate project design horizon is 2036.
In total the project will in its ultimate stage improve/provide access to potable water supply for 3.39 million existing and 0.7 million new consumers residing in the project areas. All of the new works include Intake Structures, Water Treatment Plants, Transmission Mains, Reservoirs, Distribution Net-works and associated chlorine contact tanks, booster pumping stations, rechlorination stations, treated water storage tanks, telemetry systems etc.
