Uganda, Kampala Water – Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation, Package 4B (Drinking Water Treatment Plant Katosi)
The main objective of the project was to improve the living conditions of the residents of Kampala through the provision of safe and reliable water supply. Package 4B consists of a new Drinking Water Treatment Plant (DWTP) east of Kampala near the village of Katosi as well as a bulk Transmission Main (TM) from Katosi to GKMA's distribution network. The works were carried out in three phases, and included pre-chlorination, pH adjustment, coagulation, flocculation, clarification, filtration, disinfection, sludge treatment including chemical dosing/storage, sludge treatment, and SCADA.

- Critical review of the Package 4A feasibility study and water supply and sanitation masterplan to determine which solution to proceed with;
- Topographical and geotechnical survey including Bathymetric Survey;
- Preparation of conceptual designs for the WTP, pumping mains and storage/balancing reservoir;
- Preparation of tender documents and specifications - design-build;
- Preparation and implementation of concise and specific environmental and social impact assessment;
- Construction supervision and superintendence over the defect notification period.
