Water Resources

The identification and assessment of suitable water resources is a fundamental starting point for the development of reliable water supply systems. The choice of source has a decisive influence on water availability, raw water quality, technical design and long-term sustainability.

Assessment of water sources and intake solutions

Surface water and groundwater sources require careful investigation and evaluation. Water intake structures must be designed to provide the required quantities at the best available quality while ensuring reliable operation under changing hydrological conditions. This applies in particular where water levels and water quality vary seasonally, and where the structural design of intake facilities is technically demanding.

Groundwater often offers advantages in terms of raw water quality, but aquifer conditions and sustainable yields must be assessed carefully to avoid over-abstraction. We support our clients in identifying suitable sources, evaluating technical options and developing robust intake solutions adapted to local conditions.

Our competencies include:

  • Hydrological and hydrogeological investigations for surface water and groundwater
  • Assessment and selection of suitable water sources
  • Site selection for surface water intake structures
  • Detailed design of water intake works, including dams, weirs, onshore and offshore pumping stations
  • Construction supervision for groundwater drilling and other water intake facilities
