Uganda, Kampala’s Sewerage System, Extension and Rehabilitation

In view of the deterioration of the Murchinson Bay on the Lake Victoria, the Government of Uganda has obtained funds for the long lasting protection of Lake Victoria and its ecological equilibrium.

Its long term strategy is to treat the liquid wastes generated by the growing population and industry in Kampala to a level and purity that its discharge into the Lake is not causing ecological damages.

The project comprises the construction of two modern biological waste water treatment plants with sludge stabilization and dewatering and biogas production for energy generation and effluent sterilization, new sewer collection and lifting systems.
